Mahindra Has Readied New Variants Of XUV500 And KUV100 To Counter Competition
Mahindra & Mahindra to ready to launch new variants of its popular XUV500 and KUV100 to counter rivals where it has been overshadowed by Maruti Suzuki in some months in 2016.
The competition in the Utility Vehicle (UV) segment is set to intensify with Maruti Suzuki getting ready to launch the Ignis premium compact urban vehicle. To counter the competition, Mahindra & Mahindra is ready with new variants of its popular selling vehicles XUV500 and KUV100 with new features.
It is not just Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, who is M&M closest rival, has aslew of launches for 2017. Beginning with the launch of its flagship Hexa crossover and then later with the sub-compact SUV, Nexon. M&M has readied new variants of the XUV500 and KUV100.
The changes are expected to be in aesthetics and features and M&M is expected not to increase the prices significantly for the new variants.
M&M will be adding a host of connectivity features to make the XUV500 more feature-rich. The new EcoSense telematics feature will allow real-time tracking of the SUV, including fuel economy, wear and tear of parts and mood lighting.
The company will also add a safety button in the XUV500, this will trigger in the event of any collision and call the stored emergency contact number. This will be offered to existing XUV owners through a simple software update.
The company is facing stiff competition in the micro SUV segment with Maruti Suzuki set to launch the Ignis. M&M is updating the KUV100 by improving the aesthetics and its fuel economy.
Also, the company will offer the KUV100 with a new variant that will come with dual colours for the first time to keep itself competitive with Ignis. The KUV will also be offered with the options ofbigger alloy wheels and loads of accessories.
M&M has already tied up with Google to offer Android Auto in the infotainment system of XUV and is in discussion with Apple to integrate the Apple CarPlay.
In the premium SUV space with a price range of Rs 15-25 lakh, Mahindra sells 3,000 to 3,500 XUVs a month and this is more than all the models put together of other companies. With Tata Motors set to launch the Hexa, M&M apparent move to provide feature-rich interiors for the XUV to hold on its share in the segment.
Maruti Suzuki is all to launch the next-generation Swift in India later this year. The all-new Swift is sharper and sportier than the outgoing model. Below is an extensive array of car photo gallery of the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift, click to view.
