Mahindra Scorpio Automatic Variants Discontinued
Mahindra Scorpio Automatic discontinued from its official website indicating a new automatic gearbox is in the works.
Mahindra has discontinued the automatic variants of the Scorpio SUV in 2WD and 4WD configurations.
The official website of the Mahindra does not list the Scorpio automatic models. As per a tweet from Mahindra Scorpio, the automatic gearbox version of the Scorpio has been discontinued though the manual gearbox version continues to be sold.
The Scorpio automatic was available in the range-topping S10 variant, while other trims are offered with the manual gearbox. The S4 plus and the S10 were offered with the all-wheel-drive (AWD) option.
The sudden discontinuation of the Scorpio Automatic suggest that Mahindra could ready a new gearbox which is seen in the XUV500 or a new facelifted Scorpio is in the works. The new Scorpio could be offered with a new automatic gearbox.
Some reports suggest that Mahindra is working on a facelift version of the Scorpio and is internally code-named as Z101. The new Scorpio is expected to receive a bump in power and torque and might be powered by the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit.
The current model of the Mahindra Scorpio is available in the three different powertrains: 2.0-, 2.2- and 2.5-litre diesel engines. All the engines come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
While the 2.0-litre and the 2.2-litre produce 120bhp and 280Nm of torque, the 2.5-litre unit churns out 75bhp and 200Nm of torque.
