Mahindra To Develop Electric Performance Car And SUVs
Mahindra may also consider this new system to power larger vehicles like the Tourister mini buses.
Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to expand its electric range of vehicles in India. The current electric product lineup includes the e20+, the eSupro and the eVerito, which are currently powered by two systems - a 48V and a 72V.
Recently, Mahindra told Autocar India that the company is developing a more powerful 380V system, which was showcased on the e2o Sport Concept at the 2016 Auto Expo. The manufacturer also confirmed that the model would hit production soon.
The new powerful 380V powertrain will also do the duty in bigger vehicles (SUVs and MPVs). Currently, Mahindra's SUVs such as Scorpio and XUV500 uses the mild-hybrid system, and these are two possible vehicles to get the full electric powertrains.
Mahindra may also consider this new system to power larger vehicles like the Tourister mini buses. The manufacturer has also confirmed that it will develop a high-end performance car with Pininfarina. The design company has already shown a few electric concepts.
Mahindra is already taking part as a team in Formula championship, and it has also stated the platform will spawn two new cars. One vehicle under the Mahindra brand and the other under the SsangYong brand.
