Mahindra Sponsored 2017 BAJA SAEIndia Finale Kicks Off
The finale of the Mahindra sponsored 2017 BAJA SAEIndia series has kicked off in Indore. The 2017 edition is the first time a foreign team has participated in the event.
The endurance rounds finale of the Mahindra sponsored 2017 BAJA SAEIndia series has been flagged off at the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP) facility at Pithampur near Indore.
The 2017 edition of BAJA SAEIndia is the 10th running of the event and also features a theme like the nine editions before it. The theme for this year's event is 'Decade of Dream, Dare & Drive' which celebrates a decade of the BAJA SAEINDIA series.
The 2017 finale sees 150 teams taking part in the BAJA even along with 35 other teams who will compete for the eBAJA title. This year's event sees a foreign team participating in the BAJA SAEIndia for the first time. The team in question is from the BITS Dubai campus.
The teams for the finale were shortlisted from a total of 450 entries from engineering colleges across the country who were screened in the virtual BAJA event held at Christ University, Bangalore in June 2016, where they presented their designs for the finale. The qualifying teams were selected through a thorough analysis and comparison of their written test, CAD Designs, the CAE analysis and the designs of Roll Cage, Suspension, Steering and Brakes.
The endurance rounds for both the conventional BAJA and the eBAJA event will take place on February 18-19. While eBAJA participants will battle it out for two hours the regular BAJA event on Sunday will run for a gruelling 4 hours.
