This New Car Head-Up Display Uses Movie Theatre Tech
American carmaker Lincoln has revealed its new exclusive head-up display which uses technology found in movie theatres.
Lincoln is all set to debut an all-new head-up display (HUD) that the carmaker claims is exclusive to the company and is the brightest and biggest display in its class.
However, what makes this new HUD something worth looking forward to is the fact it uses Digital Light Projection (DLP) technology.
DLP allows the display to be visible in more ambient lighting conditions allowing even drivers wearing polarised sunglasses to view it. DLP is the same technology used by digital movie theatres to project movies.
The new HUD also benefits from Lincoln's use of an infrared reflective coating on the glass which deflects heat so that the car stays cool in warmer climates.
What the HUD shows is controlled by steering mounted controls. The controls allow drivers to customise the HUD to give them the information they want and even control the brightness and placement of the display.
The new HUD will hit Lincoln cars this spring and will first be seen on the latest iteration of the Continental.
