Most Reliable Car Brands Revealed — The Answers Won't Surprise You
In the U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study conducted by J.D. Power, both the luxury car manufacturers, Lexus and Porsche scored an industry low of 110 problems per 100 cars.
Lexus continues to dominate in the top spot as the most reliable car brand in a survey conducted by J.D. Power. But there is a little problem; the Japanese carmaker is sharing the first place with its German rival Porsche.
In the U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study conducted by J.D. Power, both the luxury car manufacturers, Lexus and Porsche scored an industry low of 110 problems per 100 cars. Lexus parent company Toyota also managed to score only 123 problems and finished the survey in third place.
Buick, a sub-brand of General Motors and German giant Mercedes-Benz round out the top five, followed by Hyundai, BMW. The eighth and ninth spot was sealed by Chevrolet and Honda respectively followed by Jaguar.
American brands Chrysler and Ford were ranked low in the industry average. Ram, Dodge and Jeep also struggled in the J.D. Power survey as well. Fiat was the last in the order, as owners of the Italian make reported 298 issues for every 100 cars.
When it comes to individual models, the Lexus ES was selected as the most reliable compact premium car, and the Lexus GS was named as the midsize premium cars. Lexus' and its parent company Toyota's vehicles topped the rankings in 10 out of 18 segments in the survey.
General Motors won four segment awards with its vehicles such as Chevrolet Camaro as the midsize sporty car, Chevrolet Sonic as the small car, Chevrolet Silverado HD as the large heavy duty pickup and Chevrolet Tahoe as the large SUV. Meanwhile, Ford F-150 was selected as the most dependable full-size truck.
