Lamborghini India Expects To Improve Sales With Urus SUV
Lamborghini India expects to improve the sales volume once the Urus SUV is launched in India next year. The Urus SUV will hit the roads in 2018.
Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini is confident to improve its sales volume in India once the Urus SUV is launched in 2018.
Speaking to Autocar India, Head of Automobili Lamborghini India, Sharad Agarwal stated that the company is looking double the sales volume globally. He said, "But given that in India there is a lot more preference for SUVs among customers, I believe the growth multiplier for India will be higher than double."
Lamborghini expects to attract new buyers with the launch of Urus SUV. Due to the practicality of the SUV, existing customers might also be the potential buyers of the Urus.
In India the condition of roads in not that great. Porsche has tasted success with its performance SUVs such as Cayenne and Macan. So, Lamborghini is planning to replicate the same with the Urus SUV.
Currently, Lamborghini dominates the super sports car segment in the country with a price tag of over Rs 2.5 crore. In 2016, over 30 Lamborghini's were sold out of 70 odd cars retailed in this segment.
The Urus is likely to draw power from a 4-litre V8 engine, and a plug-in hybrid variant will also be offered at a later phase. The SUV is based on the Audi's MLB platform. The company expects to sell around 3,000 SUVs per year.
