Kolhapur Vehicle Organisations Protest Against Hike In Licence Issuance Fee
Kolhapur vehicle organisations are on a relay fast, protesting against the recent licence fee hike saying the increase in price is unreasonable.
14 vehicle organisations from Kolhapur have resorted to go on a relay fast to protest against the recent hike in fee for licence issuance. The bodies have threatened to continue with the fast till the decision by the central government is revoked.
The central government, under the Motor Vehicle Act has hiked prices of various licences and renewal of licences such as learning licenses, fitness tests, and international driving permits.
Motorists claim that the hike in price is unnecessary and unreasonably high. An autorickshaw driver expresses his concern saying, "We have decided to continue the relay fast. The government is calling itself pro-poor but its actions are anti-poor."
"The government could have increased the fees gradually, but the sudden decision has made the survival of people like us difficult. We cannot afford to lose our employment. Therefore, we have decided to continue the protest."
He also says that the government should think of the common man and many of the promises made by the present government is yet to be delivered.
Let the hike in price not bother you if you are looking to buy a new car. We suggest you take a look at the new Maruti Suzuki Swift that is to be launched in the Indian market soon.
