India-bound 2017 Kia Picanto; Pictures, Specs And Details Revealed
The 2017 Kia Picanto is the third-gen model of one of the most popular hatchbacks in the international market.
South Korean automaker Kia Motors is all geared up to debut the next-generation Picanto hatchback at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. But ahead of the launch, Kia has officially revealed the details and pictures of the model.
The 2017 Kia Picanto is the third-gen model of one of the most popular hatchbacks in the international market. The new car features a new design, improved tech specs and some customization options.
Talking about the design, Kia says the car was designed to be an 'innovative, bold and fun-looking urban city car.' The 2017 Picanto inherit Kia's signature Tiger Nose grille, redesigned bumper and flared-out side skirts. All of these design elements adds a sporty character to the hatchback's appearance.
The 2017 model also gets projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights. Kia will offer six new colour options - Lime Light, Shiny Red, Aurora Black, Pop Orange, Sparkling Silver and Celestial Blue pearlescent metallic.
Inside, the Picanto gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto and it also supports parking camera. The carmaker has also reduced the noise pollution inside the car by adding an absorbent foam inside and a sound-absorbent engine cover.
In the international market, the Kia Picanto will be offered with three engine options. The most notable engine option is the 1.0-litre T-GDI, the most power of the three. The new engine cranks out 98bhp of power and 172Nm of torque.
The other two engines that will be offered are naturally aspirated 1.0- and 1.25-litre MPI units. The entry-level engine is capable of producing 66bhp of power and 96Nm of torque, while the 1.25-litre unit will produce 82.8bhp of power and 122Nm of peak torque.
On the safety front, the Picanto gets Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).
