Kia Motors To Participate In The India's Biggest Auto Show
Kia Motors will participate in the India's biggest auto show, the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The manufacturer is likely to showcase high-end premium models.
South Korean automaker Kia Motors has already announced its entry into the Indian market. The company will also participate in the 14th iteration of the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo.
ET Auto reports that Kia will showcase three to four models at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The sources also state that the company will showcase high-end premium cars apart from the compact sedan and compact SUV.
Kia Motors has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh government to set up its first manufacturing plant in the country. The company has invested approximately 1.1 billion dollars on the plant.
The production will commence in the second half of 2019, and the manufacturing facility will produce around 3,00,000 units per annum. Kia Motors plans to manufacture a compact sedan and a compact SUV for the Indian market.
Kia Motors said, "Construction of a new manufacturing facility in India will enable Kia to maintain its position as one of the world's fastest-growing automobile brands." Kia Motors is the second largest automaker in South Korea.
India is the rapidly growing new car market and fifth largest in the world. 3.3 million new cars were sold in the country in 2016. Kia stated that India would be the third largest market in the world by 2020.
