Jeep Compass Launch Details Revealed — Should Mahindra Be Worried?
The Jeep Compass India launch date and pricing has been revealed, which will trouble other SUV makers in India.
The Jeep Compass is scheduled to go on sale this August onward, and according to sources at Over Drive, the Compass will be priced at around Rs 16 lakh ex-showroom.
Now, this is worrying news for Mahindra since some of its vehicles are priced in the same range. But the Rs 16 lakh price will be introductory, and the American carmaker will hike prices later. When launched, the Jeep Compass will still be the most affordable model from the lineup.
Regarding design, the Jeep Compass resembles the Grand Cherokee, and measuring 4.4 meters; the Compass will offer enough interior room for occupants. Also, Jeep will ensure that the Compass will have all the equipment needed to compete with the competition.
The Jeep Compass will be introduced in three trims: Sport, Longitude, and Limited. A 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine is expected to power the Jeep Compass in India, which produces 163bhp and 350Nm of torque, with the help of a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
Jeep will not introduce the top-of-the-line Trailhawk variant in India, which features hardcore 4X4 equipment that other models of the Compass miss out. Until launched, feast your eyes on the Jeep Compass image gallery below.
