Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Unveiled — Brand's Most Powerful Road Car Yet
Jaguar's quickest road car XE SV Project 8 can hit a top speed of 320km/h and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds.
Jaguar has unveiled it's most track-focused, road-going car that the British brand has ever made. Meet the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 built by the SVO division's Technical Centre near Coventry.
The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is a super souped-up XE that's been completely transformed from a sober executive saloon to a true supercar. Jaguar's quickest road car, the XE SV Project 8 can hit a top speed of 320km/h and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds.
Jaguar will produce only 300 of the XE SV Project 8 saloon and will be available only as left-hand drive versions. The car will be designed, engineered and assembled by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) Technical Centre in Ryton-on-Dunsmore.
Enhancements made by SVO division to the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 include lightweight aluminium and carbon fibre exterior panels to meet extreme performance targets. The super sedan promises to offer supercar performance and handling in a compact saloon package.
Powered by a 5.0-litre V8 mill that can churn out 592bhp which sends power via Jaguar's four-wheel drive system and a recalibrated version of the firm's eight-speed Quickshift gearbox. The gearbox has been improved to reduce the shift time to 200 milliseconds using a 'pistolshift' lever.
Jaguar's most powerful road-going car will become the second Collectors' Edition vehicle from SVO, following the successful launch of the Jaguar F-Type Project 7 in 2014.
The car will be available to order in the four-seat specification with a Track Pack version featuring two race spec seats and harness retention hoop as optional.
John Edwards, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations managing director, said: "SVO's raison d'être is to produce halo vehicles that push the boundaries in terms of luxury, performance and all-terrain capability.
"Project 8 is a great example of what happens when enthusiastic designers, engineers and manufacturing specialists are given the opportunity to create an extreme performance sports car without compromise.
"Project 8 will be assembled by hand in the new SVO Technical Centre, and we're confident that our enthusiastic and demanding clients will love driving Project 8 as much we do."
