Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Revealed — Brands Most Powerful Road-Going Model
The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is being developed by company's Special Vehicles Operations division, features 5.0-litre V8 engine churning out a massive 591bhp.
Jaguar has taken the wraps off its most powerful road-going car it has ever created. Known by the moniker Jaguar XE SV Project 8, the supercharged saloon has been developed by the firm's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division.
The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is the second collectors' edition model, following the Jaguar F-Type Project 7 from 2014.
Just like the Project 7, the XE SV will be hand built at SVO's Technical Centre in Coventry and employs the same supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine. But in the XE SV Project 8, the power output has been pushed to deliver 591bhp - 24bhp more than the F-Type SV Project 7.
Unlike the rear wheel drive system in the Project 7, the XE SV Project 8 is an all-wheel drive and uses a specially tuned version of its eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
Jaguar has not revealed the official figures; however, it claims the XE SV Project 8 will offer knee jerking performance. This could mean it could beat the 3.5sec 0-100km/h time of Jaguar's current most accelerative road car, the all-wheel-drive F-Type SV Project 7.
With this kind of performance, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 can put it in the regions of the Porsche 911 GT3 and ahead of fellow limited-run track special, the BMW M4 GTS.
The XE SV Project 8 seen in the images wearing light camouflaging, has been developed at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The firm is yet to confirm the specifications of the car's platform setup, but the modifications on the monster suggest firmer suspension and a faster steering rack, lowering the car to improve high-speed stability and giving the instant responses.
The car seems to be sitting on lightweight wheels indicated by the bulging wheel arches. Along with its beefed by underpinnings, the exterior is aggressive as well. The XE SV bodywork is dominated up front by the larger air intakes and a spoiler on the bumper.
At the rear, the supercharged Jaguar XE SV sports a couple of exhaust tailpipes and the boot lid is enhanced with a fixed rear wing, which generates good downforce.
Inside the cabin, the pictures do little to reveal the changes but don't be surprised to see important weight reduction measures used to keep the XE SV mass down.
With just 300 headed for production - in left-hand drive only - and with the exclusivity and the fact that the car is hand built, the prices are expected to soar above the regular XE range.
