Jaguar Land Rover’s SVO Division Seems Set To Develop 911-Rivalling Supercar
Jaguar Land Rover’s SVO Division’s MD recently revealed SVO’s desire to build a supercar of their own, just like the Mercedes-AMG GT.
Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicles Operation (SVO) division has revealed plans to develop a full-blown supercar. Reports have emerged that JLR's SVO is planning to develop a supercar that would rival the likes of the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-AMG GT.
The SVO division of the British marque has in the past brought out cars like the Project 7 and Project 8, which are both cars developed on an existing Jaguar Platform - F-Type and the XE respectively. But this would be the first time that SVO would be developing a supercar of their own.
The Managing Director of the SVO division, John Edwards was quoted as saying, "Deep down, we want to make our own model. Just look at the success of the AMG-GT." When the MD of JLR's SVO says something like this, we know there is something coming our way, that will mostly purr(Jaguar), growl(V8) and possibly even whine (Supercharged).
This is exactly the expertise of the SVO, as this is the very division which gave us the Jaguar F-Type SVR and the Range Rover Sport SVR. So they have the experience, they have a huge parts bin to rummage in, and they just might find the V8 SVR's platform and even mechanicals a good place to begin with.
It is not known yet, when the SVO supercar will come out, but given that the announcement has just come out, and that it's not exactly an official 'start of development' announcement, I'd say it will be a long time in the making. Meanwhile, we will have the Range Rover Velar and the Jaguar F-Pace developed by SVO to play around with while waiting for the SVO supercar.

The Special Vehicles Operations Division of Jaguar Land Rover has given us some astonishingly beautiful vehicles in the past, and with this statement, we can say that there will be more coming our way, and, we are excited!
