Jaguar Teases Its Smallest SUV E-Pace
Jaguar E-Pace compact SUV is tipped to become the company's best-seller.
Jaguar has announced that its newest compact SUV E-Pace will launch on July 13, 2017, and that is just less than a month away. The company also revealed a teaser of the E-Pace's tail; it shows a fat rear fender and Jaguar's trademark taillamp design.
While many companies would begin the promotion of a new vehicle with only a teaser and nothing more, Jaguar has revealed more details of the E-Pace.
Among the details revealed is the powertrain specifications. The Jaguar E-Pace will be available in petrol and diesel powered engines and all-wheel drive. The E-Pace might employ the same powertrain combinations as the Range Rover Evoque.
Power will come from 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel Ingenium engines, including 161bhp and 178bhp diesel. Top of the range will be a 237bhp 2.0-litre diesel and a 247bhp 2.0-litre petrol. The E-Pace could also be the first model to get Jaguar's new hybrid powertrain.
Jaguar also revealed the pricing and the availability of the E-Pace. The crossover Jaguar begins at $38,595 (Rs 24.93 lakh approx.), which over $3,000 (Rs 19 lakh) less than the base variant of F-Pace and the Range Rover Evoque in the global markets. The Jaguar E-Pace will be available from dealerships from 2018 onwards in international markets.
Jaguar's director of design, Ian Callum, said: "The combination of sports car looks with Jaguar performance will ensure that the E-Pace stands out. Every Jaguar is designed to excite the senses, and we think E-Pace will do just that."
The Jaguar E-Pace when launched will lock horns with Audi Q3, BMW X1 and upcoming Jeep Compass in India.
DriveSpark Thinks!
