Ultra-Exclusive Italdesign V10 Supercar To Debut At The Geneva Motor Show
A new V10 supercar from the stable of Italdesign is set for its debut at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show. Only five examples of the model will be built.
Italdesign, the famous Turin-based design house, which is now part of the Volkswagen Group, is set to launch a super-exclusive 'own-brand' V10 supercar at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
The new supercar introduces a new marque called Italdesign Automobili Speciali and only five examples will be made, aimed at "collectors and visionary enthusiasts". Italdesign expects to deliver the first finished model by the end of 2017.
The new supercar is powered by a 5.2-litre V10 engine shared with the top-of-the-range versions of the Audi R8. It also borrows Audi's Quattro permanent four-wheel-drive system.
Top speed of the supercar is estimated at 330km/h, and the car ca sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.2 seconds. The company's engineers promise "racing car performance with type approval", so the car can be driven on public roads.
The major highlights of the new Italdesign supercar are, sophisticated aerodynamics and lightweight construction. The exterior of the car features prominent front splitter, louvres over the wheel arches, side-mounted fins, racing-style rear spoiler and a large underbody diffuser.
The body panels are made up of carbon fiber, and the car is expected to have a kerb weight which will undercut the Volkswagen Group's other supercar models - the R8 and the Lamborghini Aventador, which weight 1595kg and 1575kg respectively.
The overall design of the new supercar is of a modernised Lancia Stratos. Although, Italdesign's supercar is more than a metre longer, which is similar to that of the Lamborghini Aventador, at 4.87 metres in overall length.
The new supercar from Italdesign will have similar overall design as of the Lamborghini Aventador S. Check out the photo gallery of the manic supercar below.
