The Auto Industry Is Fully Committed To Manufacture BS-IV Norm Vehicles — SIAM President
SIAM has issued a statement saying that the Indian auto industry is fully committed towards manufacturing BS-IV norm vehicles and there is false news in the air.
A recent report by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) states that all carmakers, including two-wheeler manufacturers, are fully committed to manufacturing BS-IV (BS4) compliant vehicles from April 1, 2017.
The confirming the statement was Vinod Dasari, the President of SIAM. The statement said all vehicle manufacturers have complied with technical regulations in the past and will continue to do so in the future too.
Also, the Indian automotive industry will be the first to skip BS-V (BS5) emission norms and directly target BS-VI (BS6) norms by the year 2020. Even developed countries took around ten years to achieve the same, developing progressively step-by-step.
SIAM has confirmed that news about the Indian automotive industry asking for time to comply with BS-IV norms or trying to postpone dates are false, deliberately made to criticise the industry.
A few automakers have already launched BS-IV compliant vehicles, and one of them is KTM, with the updated Duke and RC range of motorcycle. The updated BS-IV norm KTM 390 Duke is pictured in the image gallery below.
