The India-made compact SUV will be rolled out from the Fiat's Ranjangoan production facility in Maharashtra. The plant will be the production hub for the right-hand-drive Compass models.
The right-hand-drive Compass will be sold in India and few other international markets such as Japan and UK. The Compass is a key product for Fiat and Jeep as the manufacturer is betting high on the compact SUV.
Globally, the Compass will be offered in as many as 17 engines, transmission and powertrain options. And some of the models for the international market will be made in India.
The India-spec Compass will be available in two engine options, a 2-litre diesel engine and a 1.4-litre petrol engine. The diesel motor is good for 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
