Hyundai Issues Massive 1.48 Million Car Recall
Hyundai has issued a massive recall for over a million cars due to some rather troubling engine news.
Korean carmaker Hyundai and its subsidiary Kia Motors have issued a recall for 1.48 million vehicles in the United States, Canada and South Korea due to engine issues.
The cars being recalled Hyundai's Sonata, Grandeur and Santa Fe and Kia's K5, K7 Optima, Sorento and Sportage.1.19 million cars and SUVs being recalled in the United States, while 114,187 vehicles are being called back in Canada and another 171,348 face the same fate in South Korea.
The cars are being recalled due to the fact that errors during the machining process can cause a bearing in the engine to prematurely wear out. This, in turn, can cause the part to fail and the engine to seize and cause the car to crash. Hyundai has not revealed if any injuries or deaths have occurred due to the defective engines.
Hyundai and Kia will inspect the defective engines in the cars free of charge after each vehicle undergoes an inspection at the dealerships. The affected engines equipped with a 2-liter or 2.4-liter Theta 2 gasoline engine produced before August 2013
The recall for the vehicles will start on May 22 in South Korea and on May 25 in the United States.
