Hindustan Petroleum To Launch ‘poWer99’ — A Special Fuel For Super Cars
HPCL will offer high octane petrol called poWer99, which will be sold in Bangalore first, followed by other parts of India.
Beginning Friday, India will retail high performance petrol with an octane rating of 99 called, 'poWer99'. The fuel will be the highest octane rated fuel in the country and is specially targeted at supercars such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches.
Hindustan Petroleum, the state-run oil company will launch poWer99 in Bangalore as pilot basis, and the fuel will be launched in metros and other parts of the country in the following weeks.
High octane fuels have a higher activation energy requirement, which means they are less likely to lead to uncontrolled ignition, resulting in optimum performance.
A senior HPCL official said, the upgraded fuel can withstand higher temperature during compression stroke without auto-igniting. This allows more power to be extracted, useful for high-end cars and bikes which need high-octane green petrol for optimum performance.
The first fuel station to retail the poWer99 high octane fuel in India will be HPCL's outlet in Murugeshpalya, Old Airport Road, Bangalore.
Subhankar Dutta, HPCL's Regional Manager said: "Bengaluru has about 300 high-end cars. There is a demand for superbikes. We will launch the product here, and in other metros later. Until now, India has had an octane rate of 97, offered by BPCL, and Shell's octane rating is a tad less."
Now since fuel is available, buying a performance car is what is needed. We suggest the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder. Take a look at the images below.
