Honda WR-V Set To Launch In India Today — Details And Booking Amount Revealed
India is the first country to manufacture and launch Honda’s global model, the WR-V.
Honda Cars India will unveil its sub-4m SUV, the WR-V, on Thursday, March 16. Bookings for the upcoming SUV have already commenced at authorized dealerships across the country for a token amount of Rs 21,000.
India is the first country to manufacture and launch Honda's global model, the WR-V. It is based on the Honda Jazz platform, but the WR-V looks nothing like the hatchback. The model will be Honda's entry in the compact SUV segment which is currently ruled by Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford Ecosport.
The WR-V is a crossover with the chunkiness of an SUV, and it can also take on the crossover segment which includes Hyundai i20 Active, Toyota Etios Cross, and Fiat Avventura. The Honda's crossover is expected to be priced starting at around Rs 7 lakh.
The WR-V will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version will be powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine which is capable of producing 90bhp of power and 110Nm of torque.
The diesel version will feature a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor that can generate 100bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. The transmission duties are expected to be carried out by a five-speed manual for the petrol variant and a six-speed for the diesel model.
