Honda Halts Production At Japan Car Plant — The Reason Is Shocking

Japanese car maker, Honda Motor Co has stated that it has halted production at its domestic vehicle plant for a day. The reason behind the shutdown is WannaCry ransomware, a computer virus.

Honda had shut down the production on June 19, 2017, at its Sayama plant in Tokyo. Honda found that the virus had affected the network across Japan, North America, Europe, China and other regions.

A spokeswoman from Honda said that, despite the efforts to secure the systems, the virus had spread at plants, hospitals and shops worldwide. The production at other plants was uninterrupted.

Honda’s rival automakers such as Renault and Nissan were also affected by the Ransomware virus last month. They had stopped production at plants in Japan, Britain, France, Romania and India.
