Honda CR-V Diesel India Launch Details Revealed
Honda is all set to launch the CR-V diesel in the Indian market, the SUV will be launched by next year.
Japanese automaker Honda is all set to launch the fifth-gen CR-V in the Indian market. Autocar India reports that the CR-V will hit the Indian roads by next year.
The India-spec CR-V will be identical to the ASEAN-spec model. The new SUV is likely to draw power from the existing 2.4-litre petrol engine good for 190bhp, coupled to an automatic gearbox.
But the good news is, the India-spec CR-V will also come in diesel variant. The diesel trim will draw power from a 1.6-litre i-DTEC motor producing 158bhp and 350Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a ZF 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The diesel engine will be assembled in India which will help Honda to cut down the pricing. Both the engines are expected to be offered with front-wheel-drive and optional all-wheel-drive system.
On the design front, the new CR-V gets similar design cues as the global-spec model. The overall styling is angular and modern compared to the outgoing model. The SUV will also be equipped with the automatic shutter grille tech to reduce aerodynamic drag.
The interior of the new CR-V features 7-inch infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, heated wing mirrors and electric parking brake. The new CR-V will lock horns with the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan and Jeep Compass.
DriveSpark Thinks!
Honda has already announced that it will export the fully assembled 1.6-litre diesel engines from India. The same engine will be deployed in the new CR-V. The diesel SUV will be a strong competitor in the SUV segment in the Indian market.
