2017 Honda City Likely To Launch In India In February; Bookings Commenced Unofficially
The 2017 City sedan will continue to use the same engine options, a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel powerplant.
Japanese auto giant Honda is gearing up for the launch of 2017 City sedan facelift in the country. The facelifted sedan was first launched in Thailand on January 12. According to several reports that surfaced on the internet, the carmaker is planning to launch the new City in February in India.
A report by CarDekho revealed that Honda dealerships in Delhi have started accepting bookings for the facelift model as some buyers are ready to wait out. It is expected that Honda India will officially commence the booking in the last week of January or in the beginning of February.
The 2017 Honda City has some changes to the exterior mainly on the front-end. The model now gets a new bumper and the front grille is now sleeker like the new Civic. Other important updates include new LED headlamps with DRLs.
The facelift City sedan is equipped with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear-end also gets some changes including new LED effect taillamps and a reworked bumper.
Inside, the model will feature leather upholstery with a new design for the front seats. The car also gets a touchscreen infotainment system which Honda co-developed with Blaupunkt.
On the safety side, the model gets six airbags on the top variant. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) along with dual airbags will be a standard fitment across all variants.
The 2017 City sedan will continue to use the same engine options, a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel powerplant. The petrol engine is capable of delivering 117bhp of power and 145Nm of torque, while the diesel motor produces 99bhp of power and 200Nm of torque.
The petrol engine variants will come mated to a 5-speed manual and a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), while the diesel engined models will only get a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The 2017 Honda City will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento. It is also expected that the new variants of the facelift model will be Rs 25,000 more pricey than the ongoing variants.
