Is A Special Edition Ford GT On The Way? Time For Some Competition
Snooping around in the Ford GT user manual reveals that a lighter Competition Series GT could be on the way.
American automotive giant, Ford might be looking at a rather special version of its halo car, the GT, at least that's what the regular car's owners manual seems to be hinting.
Only 1,000 Ford GT's will ever make it into production, and the ‘Competition Series' variant is expected to clean out a certain number of the limited production run.
Details about the 'Competition Series' Ford GT can be found on the 42nd page of the owner's manual. The page mentions that the 'Competition Series' Ford GT uses a different key fob lacking a remote rear hatch release. The manual states that the rear hatch is latched using racing-style hood-pins.
Page 149 of the manual shows that the rear hatch and engine cover of the Competition Series will use a simple prop rod instead of gas struts to save weight.
Ford has remained silent about any special edition GT variant in the works, though it wouldn't be much of a surprise to us if it does happen sometime in the future.
