Ford’s First Hybrid Police Car Revealed
Ford has revealed its first hybrid Police car, the Police Responder Hybrid Sedan. Read more to know about the company's first police car.
American auto giant Ford has revealed its first hybrid Police car. The company plans to introduce 13 new electrified vehicles in the next five years.
Ford has introduced its first pursuit-rated hybrid Police car, the all-new Ford Police Responder Hybrid sedan. The company has also announced an investment of 4.5 billion dollars in manufacturing electric vehicles.
The Police Responder Hybrid Sedan will decrease emissions in the cities and will result in increased fuel efficiency. The hybrid sedan draws power from a 3.7-liter V6 engine. With an estimated mileage of 7.65km/l.
When the engine is idling, the lithium-ion batteries will power the high electrical loads of the Police vehicle. The hybrid technology will reduce engine run time and will deliver more mileage.
Ford America President, Joe Hinrichs said, "Electrifying our next generation of vehicles is core to our unwavering commitment to sustainability. By being a leader in electrified vehicles, we remain committed to delivering cars, trucks and SUVs that are better not only for our customers, but for the environment and society as well."
The Police Responder Hybrid Sedan will be ready to deliver to Police Departments by April 2018. Ford is also testing a fleet of a hybrid taxi and van prototypes in New York and other cities of US.
Ford has also stated that the hybrid variant of the Mustang will deliver V8 power and will make its debut in 2020. The company predicts that auto industry will offer more hybrid and electric vehicles in the next 15 years.
