Ford EcoBoost And Ferrari V8 Win International Engine Of The Year Award
Ford EcoBoost was adjudged as the best engine under 1.0-litre; Ferrari's V8 turbo won the International Engine of the Year award.
Ford's 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine has been voted the 2017 International Engine of the Year under the "Best Engine Under 1.0-litre" category.
The EcoBoost engine has won the award six years in a row. This means that the compact and powerful three-cylinder petrol engine remains undefeated in its category since launch in 2012.
And for the second year in a row, Ferrari's 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 was voted as the 2017 International Engine of the Year Award along with the Performance Engine class and the 3-litre to 4-litre displacement category.
In the 4-litre and above category, the F12tdf's 6.3-litre V12 has taken its second consecutive title.
The Ford EcoBoost engine is offered in 98bhp, 123bhp and 138bhp now powers one of the five Ford vehicles sold in Europe. The EcoBoost petrol mill in capacities of up to 3.5-litre powers vehicles around the globe including the compact all-new Ford Fiesta to Transit vans, pick-up trucks as well as Ford Performance models such as the Focus RS and the Ford GT supercar.
The efficient EcoBoost engine was voted "Best Engine Under 1.0-litre" by a panel of 58 automotive journalists, from 31 countries. In India, Ford offers the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine in its compact SUV EcoSport.
Ferrari's 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 powers the 488 GTB, 488 Spider and with a slightly smaller displacement the California T and GTC4Lusso T.
The 6.3-litre V12 naturally aspirated engine on the other hand powers the F12berlinetta and F12tdf has won the Above 4-litre award for the second year in a row, and for the third time after the distinction awarded in 2013.
