Force India Reveals New Formula 1 Contender — Is This Mallya's Getaway Car?
The VJM10 Formula One car was unveiled at Silverstone by Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon, along with team principal Vijay Mallya.
Force India has revealed the 2017 Formula One car, the VJM10 at Silverstone. The only Indian team in F1, Force India has retained most of last year's livery, although the car has received significant upgrades as per 2017 norms.
Force India Team Principal, Vijay Mallya was present during the unveil, and said it was too early to set targets for 2017. Formula One has undergone major regulation changes this year, evident by the cars.
For starters, the VJM10 features a thumb-tip nose and sharkfin engine cover, similar to the Williams, Sauber and Renault teams. The car is wider compared to last year's car (as regulations need it to be) and the rear wing is redesigned.
The car was presented by Sergio Perez, who is part of the Force India team for the fourth season, along with Esteban Ocon, the new driver who is part of the Mercedes junior team.
In 2016, Perez finished in the seventh place overall in the 2016 driver standings, and Team Force India finished fourth in the constructors' championship.
