Fisker Emotion Electric Car Teased; Launch Date Revealed
Henrik Fisker's Emotion electric car is set to debut in August with a range of 400 miles (643 kilometres).
Electric carmaker Fisker, has released a few more teaser images of its upcoming car, the EMotion ahead of its launch in August.
Fisker has confirmed that the EMotion will be launched on August 17, 2017. The launch date suggests that Fisker could reveal its new car at the prestigious Monterey Car Week in California, which is taking place the same week as the launch.
The EMotion will be built by VLF Automotive, a carmaker that Henrik Fisker partly owns. The EMotion will use carbon fibre and aluminium to help keep the weight down and Fisker claims that the new car will be around 20 percent lighter than other cars of the same size.
The several teaser images till date show off a futuristically designed car with sculpted body panels. The EMotion features a sharply raked windscreen that slides under the pumped up bonnet.
The EMotion sports butterfly doors, front and rear while the rear end of the car looks quite wide and sports a fully functional diffuser.
Fisker claims that the EMotion has a range of 400 miles (643.7 kilometres) which is helped by the car's aero packaging and low weight.
However, the biggest reason for the massive range is the use of graphene for the batteries. The company claims the graphene technology will give the EMotion longer range, faster charging times and longer battery life as well.
The EMotion will come with the necessary hardware for autonomous driving, the software for which is being developed by a partner.
The new Fisker EMotion will be a low volume car competing with the Tesla Model S and if successful could spawn a more mass market EV that will rival the Model 3.
