Fiat India Might Stop Domestic Sales To Focus On Jeep Brand — Report
Fiat India might stop its India operations to focus on Jeep brand in the country.
Italian car manufacturer Fiat might pull the plugs of its cars in the Indian market. As per emerging reports Fiat India might stop the domestic sales to focus on Jeep brand.
Currently, Fiat India retails models such as Punto, Linea and Avventura in India. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) wants to tap into the growing utility vehicle market in India.
BW Businessworld reports that FCA's long term plan is to take the Jeep brand to a whole new level, bigger than the Fiat brand. Fiat India has also suffered from poor sales in the country. The company managed to sell just over 500 units a month including all the models.
Although, FCA has not commented on this matter. But it is likely to pull out the Fiat brand from India, as there is no model update to the Indian market. Even the next-gen Punto (Argo) is unlikely to make it to India.
On the other hand, Jeep is all set to launch the Compass in the Indian market in the coming months. The compact SUV is expected to boost the market value of Jeep in the country.
DriveSpark Thinks!
FCA is likely to put an end to the Fiat brand in India. This suggests that the utility vehicle segment has a huge potential in the Indian market. Jeep is a global brand, and now it is trying to cement its place in the country.
