Donald Trump Threatens German Carmakers Of Border Tax; Gets Trolled By German Economy Minister
Donald Trump threatens German carmakers of hefty border taxes, but the German Economy Minister’s answer will make your day.
Donald Trump is on a mission and has been successful so far — asking US based carmakers to manufacture vehicles in the US itself, and not in Mexico.
Now, Trump has eyed German carmakers and has said that a border tax of 35 percent would be levied on them. This particular statement has attracted harsh criticism from Berlin.
In an interview with Bild, a German newspaper, Trump has criticized BMW, Daimler, and Volkswagen for not making many cars in the US.
Trump was quoted saying: "If you want to build cars in the world, then I wish you all the best. You can build cars for the United States, but for every car that comes to the USA, you will pay 35 percent tax."
"I would tell BMW that if you are building a factory in Mexico and plan to sell cars to the USA, without a 35 percent tax, then you can forget that."
Responding to Trump's remarks, German Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel told Bild that instead of trying to penalize German carmakers, the United States should rather respond by building better and more desirable cars.
So if you do think that Germans make some of the most desirable cars, we agree. But the Americans too, build desirable cars and one such example is the Challenger SRT Hellcat. Check out the image gallery below.
