Hellcat Not Hot Enough? Dodge Challenger SRT Demon To Launch At New York Auto Show
The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is set to replace the insane Hellcat as the Halo car in the Challenger muscle car range.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is no slouch, what with a supercharged V8 kicking out 697bhp under the hood. However, it would seem the Hellcat isn't hot enough for Dodge, as the American carmaker is all set to launch the Challenger SRT Demon at the 2017 New York Auto Show.
The Demon badge was first seen on a dodge all the way back in 1970s when the carmaker launched the Dart Demon, which was considered by many to be the coolest Dart ever built.
The Challenger SRT Demon though is expected to the heat levels up to hellfire-levels with Dodge set to upgrade the 6.2-litre Supercharged Hemi V8 engine that powers the already unhinged Hellcat.
"Most cars attempt to be everything to everybody. Then there are the rare few that revel in a single objective, rendering them totally irresistible to a subculture," said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands, FCA North America. "The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car and a half second is your reputation."
The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon could feature an all-wheel-drive system to handle the new power levels of the insane supercharged engine along with a few design changes to help differentiate it from the Hellcat.
