Datsun rediGO 1.0-Litre And AMT Variants Launch Details Revealed
Datsun will add the AMT variant to the rediGO and most likely the 1.0-litre and the AMT option will be offered only on the top-end S variant of the car.
Datsun will launch the 1-litre variant of the redi-GO entry-level hatchback in India by June this year. The redi-GO AMT variant will also be launched at the same time.
As the Datsun redi-GO shares the same platform as the Renault Kwid, the 1.0-litre engine of the Kwid is expected to power the redi-GO as well. Datsun will also add the AMT gearbox to the redi-GO and could be offered only on the top-end S variant of the small hatchback.
The new redi-GO 1.0-litre mill will be powered by the same engine as the Kwid 1.0-litre engine which produces 67bhp and 91Nm of peak torque. This will be offered with the option of either 5-speed manual or the AMT gearbox.
The Renault Kwid AMT is featured with its unique rotary dial to shift gears and it is unclear if the same technology will be offered on the redi-GO AMT or will it be offered with a gear stick.
The current Datsun redi-GO powered by the 800cc mill is priced between Rs 2.8 lakh to Rs 3.54 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). Hence, the redi-GO 1.0-litre variant might be priced in the range of Rs 3.85 lakh and Rs 4 lakh approximately for the AMT variant.
Datsun launched the redi-GO in India in July 2016, post which the company added a special package model -- redi-GO Sport.
The company has sold 20,114 units during the period of April-December 2016 and has exported 1,652 units of the entry-level hatchback. With the launch of the redi-GO 1.0-litre and the AMT variant, Nissan, in whom Datsun is a sister brand, will look to increase its market share in India.
Datsun in India sells the GO hatchback, GO+ family sedan and the redi-GO entry-level hatchback with a sport model package as well.
