2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel Tops Mileage Ratings
The 2017 Chevrolet Cruze diesel model with 6-speed manual gearbox and the 1.6-litre engine returns a mileage of 22.11km/l on the highway and 12.75km/l in city.
General Motors says its new Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan will return a mileage of 22.11km/l on the highway, the best for any car that is not a hybrid or an electric vehicle.
The compact sedan powered by a new lightweight, 1.6-litre inline four-cylinder turbodiesel engine developing 136bhp and 325Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the model returning the best fuel efficiency.
The car can return 12.75km/l in the city and the combined fuel efficiency, highway and city, is rated at 13.18km/l.
The Cruze diesel is equipped with the 9-speed automatic gearbox as well, and the mileage ratings for this model are 13.18km/l in the city, 19.98km/l on the highway and combined score of 15.76km/l.
Steven Majoros, director of Chevrolet marketing said, "Chevrolet is dedicated to offering customers a wide range of propulsion options, we know there are customers looking for the right combination of fuel efficiency, driving dynamics, fuel type and more."
This should come as shot in the arm for GM as Volkswagen Jetta and Golf diesels feeling the heat of the 'dieselgate' scandal have more or less gone for good.
The pricing for the new Cruze diesel starts from $24,670 (Rs 16.51 lakh).
