Bugatti Chiron To Do 0-400-0 KM/H In Under 60 Seconds
Durheimer also said that the hypercar will be able to accelerate from 0 to 400km/h and return to zero in under 60 seconds.
French hypercar manufacturer Bugatti may have already started production of the Chiron, which is considered by many as the pinnacle of automotive engineering, but the car's performance is not tested to the max yet.
The Veyron's successor is powered by an 8.0-litre, quad-turbo W16 engine that cranks out 1,480bhp of power and 1,600Nm of torque. Once the model hits the road, it is ready to claim the title of the world's most powerful street car.
According to Wolfgang Durheimer, CEO, Bugatti, who was speaking with Evo UK Magazine stated that the Chiron can sprint from 0 - 100km/h in under 2.5 seconds, to 200 km/h in less than 6.5 seconds, and to 300 km/h in under 13.6 seconds.
Durheimer also said that the hypercar will be able to accelerate from 0 to 400km/h and return to zero in under 60 seconds. This is something no other hypercar manufacturers have never tested before. Koenigsegg is the only automaker which has done this type of acceleration and deceleration test before.
In 2015, the Swedish hypercar maker did a test with its One:1 which accelerated from 0 to 300 km/h to a standstill in just 17.95 seconds. The One:1 was able to decelerate from 300km/h to 0 in just 6 seconds.
Bugatti has already made it clear that Chiron's production run will be limited to 500 units. The marque has already started the production at its manufacturing facility in Molsheim. Currently, 12 units of Chiron are being assembled at this plant.
The deliveries of this 12 units will commence in the first quarter of 2017 and also, Bugatti plans to manufacture another 70 units of the Chiron this year.
