Brabham Planning To Buy Force India — The End Of Good Times In F1
According to emerging reports, Brabham is in talks with Force India F1 team to purchase the team. Brabham wants to follow the McLaren business model.
Former British racing car manufacturer and Formula One team Brabham plans to form a new Brabham Formula One team. The team intends to follow the McLaren, business model.
Autocar UK reports that a new project is in the works which involve the purchase of Force India Formula One team. The team is likely to be sold as both the owners are amidst legal troubles.
One of the owners of Force India, Vijay Mallya was recently arrested in England and released on bail. Mallya's partner in the team, Subrata Roy has been in prison for much of the last couple of years.
As per reports, the owners of the Force India are demanding an amount of Rs 1,600 crore to Rs 2,400 crore for the team. The revival of the Brabham is likely to happen with the backing of US investors.
The Brabham Formula One team would be a similar concept as the McLaren, business model. McLaren has been very successful since its inception, that is 25 years ago.
David Brabham, the son of Jack Brabham, is an F1 driver and Le Mans, winner. He has been silently working in the recent years to secure all the necessary trademarks for the Project Brabham.
Brabham said, "Brabham is a brand with more than 69 years of racing heritage and it is our intention to see the name back on track. Since Project Brabham was launched, we have received a lot of enquiries from different parties who have expressed an interest in licensing the name and we are evaluating a number of options."
