BMW M5 Details Revealed — The E63 AMG Killer?
New details have emerged about the latest BMW M5 ahead of its launch later this year.
The BMW 5 Series was revealed earlier this year at the Detroit Motor Show but for most enthusiasts, the wait for the new 5 Series will only end when the new M5 hits the streets later this year.
The new BMW M5 is currently testing at the Nurburgring, but the good folk at BMW Blog have managed to get their hands on quite a few details about the new car.
Design wise, the new BMW M5 is quite similar to the rendering seen above though the side air intakes are expected to be slightly narrower. The roof of the new M5 is made from carbon fibre and features the same design as the one on the M6.

The new M5 sits on new twin 5-spoke alloy wheels which are painted in Jet Black and feature silver accents. At the rear, twin exhaust pipes stick out of either end of the rear bumper.

In terms of performance, the new M5 retains the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 from the previous gen car, but the power has been upped to slightly over 600hp which in turn brings down the sprint from 0–100km/h to just 3.6 seconds.

The new M5 ditches the 7-speed dual clutch automatic for a regular 8-speed auto box which sends power to all four wheels. The new M5 will feature 3 driving modes: all-wheel-drive, all-wheel-drive Sport and a pure rear-wheel-drive setup.

The new BMW M5 is expected to launch by the end of the year, with the Frankfurt Motor Show the most likely candidate to host the big unveil.
