BMW Group India Registers 14 Percent Growth In 2016
BMW Group India sold 7,861 units in 2016 despite market conditions, registering 14 percent growth.
BMW Group India delivered 7,861 units for the calendar year 2016 to customers registering growth of 14 percent compared to 2015.
The sales include 7,500 BMW cars and 361 MINI cars contributing to the growth in sales in the year 2016. BMW Group in India offers vehicles from hatch, sedan, coupe, GT and SUVs which have been part of the sales of the German automaker.
Commenting on the sales Mr Frank Schloeder, acting President, BMW Group India said that 2016 has not been an easy year for the automotive industry and that applies to BMW Group India.
He added that during the course of the year, developments in the Indian economy and policy framework shook the mechanisms of the auto industry.
Mr Schloeder further added that BMW Group India was faced with challenges no less than any other automobile manufacturer and was confronted with strong pressure from the beginning of the year. Despite a challenging business environment, BMW Group India has increased sales and market share.
BMW Group India in the press release said that the all-new BMW 7-Series - the flagship luxury limousine, the all-new BMW X1 - the premium compact sports activity vehicle and the BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo - the premium sports tourer have emerged as the most popular vehicles among Indian customers giving a new interpretation to ‘Sheer Driving Pleasure' in 2016.
The BMW Group India is headquartered in Gurgaon (National Capital Region), while its wide range of activities in India includes a manufacturing plant in Chennai, a parts warehouse in Mumbai, a training centre in Gurgaon NCR and development of a dealer organisation across the major metropolitan centres of India.
The Chennai plant of BMW Group India produces BMW 1 Series, the BMW 3 Series, the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, the BMW 5 Series, the BMW 7 Series, the BMW X1, the BMW X3 and the BMW X5. The company has 41 outlets in the Indian market.
The MINI brand from BMW has established itself in India as a premium small car brand. Currently, the MINI model range includes the MINI 3-door, MINI 5-door, MINI Convertible, MINI Countryman and the MINI Clubman. MINI has five exclusive dealerships in India.
