Two New Audi SUVs Confirmed For Production
Audi has confirmed that its Q lineup of SUVs is set to expand with the all-new Q8 and Q4 set to hit the streets in the next two years.
Audi has confirmed that the Q8 and Q4 SUVs will join its lineup in the next two years. The Audi Q8 will enter production in 2018 with the smaller Q4 set to follow the next year.
The new Audi Q8 will replace the Q7 as the flagship SUV in Audi's lineup. The Q8 was first seen in concept form earlier this year at the Detroit Motor Show.
Production of the Q8 will start next year at Audi's facility in Bratislava, Slovakia which also assembles the Q7.The production-spec Q8's design is expected to remain quite close to that of the concept from Detroit.
Powering the new flagship SUV will be a range of petrol, diesel and petrol-electric hybrid powertrains.
The top-spec Q8 is expected to be the SQ8 which was seen in concept form at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show last month. The Q8 will compete with the likes of the Bentley Bentayga and the upcoming Lamborghini Urus.
The smaller Audi Q4 will sit between the Q5 and the Q3 when it enters production at Audi's facility in Gyor, Hungary in 2019.
Audi, last year in a swap deal with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles gained the rights to the Q4 (and Q2) name and the new crossover is expected to borrow its design cues from the TT Offroad concept that was showcased at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show.
