Audi e-Tron Sportback Concept Teased Again
Audi has teased its electric Sportback ahead of schedule and positioned alongside its SUV.
Audi is planning to reveal a new electric vehicle at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show, and prior to the reveal, the company has released a set of teaser pictures and full design sketches of the concept named 'Audi e-Tron Sportback concept'.
The German automaker has adopted the name "e-Tron" for both hybrid and all-electric vehicles in the past, and while they have yet to confirm the specifications of this new vehicle, the absence of visible exhaust on the pictures of the concept leads us to understand that it will be an all-electric vehicle.
Audi released an image of Marc Lichte, Head of Design, teasing the revealing of the prototype, they have also released more revealing pictures, which explains what could be termed as a sport coupé crossover.
Previously, Audi confirmed plans to release an electric sports car and electric compact after the Quattro e-Tron SUV.
The vehicles are all presumed to hit the market between 2018 and 2021 - and to be an essential part of Volkswagen's, its parent company, intend to produce 2 to 3 million all-electric cars a year and reveal 30 new models by 2025.
The vehicles are likely to lift the technology designed for the Quattro, which is supposed to have "310 miles of range" (500km) on a 90 kWh battery pack.
Audi typically uses NEDC rating for electric vehicle range. Therefore, real-world range or the EPA rating should be restricted to ~275 miles (443km) - or about the range of Tesla's Model X, which is also available with a 90 kWh pack.
