Renault-Nissan’s Operations Set To Get New Boss From India
Ashwani Gupta is set to take over as the new head of the Renault-Nissan LCV unit.
Ashwani Gupta, a skilled Renault-Nissan executive, is said to take over as the head of Renault-Nissan light commercial vehicle (LCV) alliance unit.
However, the company is still to make an announcement to this effect shortly. After the announcement, Gupta will be reporting directly to Carlos Ghosn, the CEO of Renault-Nissan.
Ashwani will be playing a major role with the Franco-Japanese carmaker. The company leaped up to the top three carmakers' alliance globally last year in the LCV space.
The group is in the process of setting up a separate alliance vertical for light commercial vehicles, drawing on synergies from Renault, Nissan, and possibly even Mitsubishi.
Renault is a strong player in the van segment in Europen and Latin American markets. On the other hand, Nissan is big in the pick-up truck space in the Middle East and Asian region. Renault-Nissan together aims to use this alliance to compete strongly in the LVC sector.
Under Gupta's leadership, Renault grew its light commercial vehicle volumes by half in the past three years. The guy was responsible for turning the operation around, including the introduction of two new pick-ups.
During his work with the alliance, Gupta had handled various roles from sourcing, V platform project management, global sourcing for the alliance, to taking over as program director at Datsun.
The immediate focus for the new alliance LCV unit will be on strengthening the existing stronghold areas of each of these brands. After that, getting a positive response the company will expand and get it to Indian and Chines shores.
