Apple’s Self-Driving Lexus Spotted Testing
Apple’s self-driving car has been spied testing in California and what exactly Apple is gathering is a mystery.
Apple, earlier this month received a go-ahead nod to start testing its self-driving cars in California, USA, and now, the car has been snapped testing.
The spotted car was a white Lexus RX 450h crossover and was snapped testing in the Silicon Valley area. The video was then handed over to Bloomberg News. As Bloomberg describes the car, it had third party sensors, radar units, and a number of cameras.
It is still unclear at the moment what kind of testing Apple is conducting, but facts suggest that Apple has ditched building a new car and is instead making self-driving software that could help existing carmakers.
Apple had also sent a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in December saying, "Investing heavily in the study of machine learning and automation, and is excited about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation."
