Alonso's F1 Team McLaren has allowed Alonso to miss the Monaco GP to compete at the famed oval Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 28, 2017.
Alonso aspires to become the second person to scale motorsport racing's highest crown called the "triple crown." He is joining the 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil because he wants to join the late Graham Hill, who triumphed in 1966 as a rookie at Indianapolis, in the rarest space of racing glory.
