Here's Your First Look At The McLaren “Hyper-GT” — The Iconic F1 Successor
The new three-seat McLaren hyper-GT will be the first McLaren to feature a new chassis, as well as new hybrid technology.
McLaren has revealed a new sketch depicting its future 'hyper-GT' car, codenamed BP23. The range-topping Special Operations model with the release of a second design represents the dramatic lines of a low-slung three-seater due in 2019.
The three-seater hyper-GT will become the successor to the iconic McLaren F1. It will be the most potent and most aerodynamic road car McLaren has ever built.
The latest sketch reveals few details of the future car, also, our best look yet at the overall shape. A swooping roofline and low rear end are very distinct, as well as thin LED rear lights.
While the large wheels with the hint of tyres are likely to be tempered down for the production design, expect the aggressive rear diffuser to remain, while it's liable to highlight dihedral doors like every latest McLaren.
The new hyper-GT will bring hybrid technology back to a McLaren for the first time since the P1; this comes before the roll-out of similar technology across its mainstream models in 2020.
The BP23 (Bespoke Product 2) will be limited to 106 examples just like the original F1, and as per McLaren, every single one has been sold out. Buyers will work alongside McLaren Special Operations (MSO) to personalise their cars.
The new McLaren hypercar is designed to overshadow the now-discontinued P1's 674kW for absolute power through the choice of a new hybrid drivetrain coupling an electric motor with the new twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine revealed in the new 720S.
