Production-Spec Aston Martin DBX Teased
Aston Martin has released a teaser image of the production-spec DBX, its first-ever crossover.
British carmaker Aston Martin has released a teaser image of the production-spec DBX crossover. The DBX was first seen in concept form at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
The teaser image of the DBX Crossover was released by Aston Martin as the carmaker took control of the facility which will be the production hub for the new car from the UK's Department of Defence. The image of the DBX shows the silhouette of the car without revealing any of its styling details.
The Aston Martin DBX will compete with the likes of the Bentley Bentayga, the Porsche Cayenne and the upcoming Lamborghini Urus SUV despite the fact that the concept car's silhouette resembled that of a two-door coupe.
Located in St Athan, in southern Wales, Aston Martin's new production facility is a large military hangar located at the Ministry of Defence base. The new facility will be the production hub of the new DBX, along with two other new models and will add 750 direct new jobs to the area once production commences in 2019.
Speaking at the handover of the hangar, Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer said, "Due to its sheer size and scale, the St Athan Super Hangars represented an excellent opportunity for us to build our second manufacturing facility, within the envelope of an existing structure. It is perhaps fitting that St Athan is, like our headquarters and sports car factory at Gaydon, a former Royal Air Force base."
