The disguised Bentley Continental GT was travelling on England's M6 motorway just outside the town of Stafford when it was filmed by a police officer from his patrol car. The cop, who was in the passenger seat of the patrol car filmed the test mule as the patrol car went past the grand tourer prototype.

The Continental GT prototype spotted by the cops did not feature any camouflage but was instead covered in a fabric mesh wrap that concealed most of the design cues of the new car.

The new Continental will use both the 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 from the current car along with the new 600bhp 6.0-litre W12 engine from the Bentayga. Hybrid and diesel variants could also make their way to the new GT.

The new Continental GT from Bentley is expected to be lighter and will be based on the Volkswagen Group's MSB platform that was first seen underpinning the new Porsche Panamera.
