The first leg of the 15th edition of Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm concluded in Bikaner yesterday. The participants covered a total distance of around 250km traversing through the sandy dunes in the scorching sun from Hanumangarh to Bikaner crossing Hardaswali and Arjansar.
In the extreme category, Suresh Rana driving for Team Maruti holds the lead after the completion of leg 1 alongside his navigator Ashwin Naik. Gaurav Chiripal (co-driver Srikanth Gowda) and Sanjay Agarwal (co-driver Shivaprakash) finished second and third respectively.
In the Moto category, Hero MotoSports Team Rally rider, two-time Dakar Rally finisher CS Santosh topped the timesheets to finish first after leg 1.
TVS Racing riders Tanveer Abdul and R Nataraj finished second and third respectively in the first leg of the rally.
The day two of the rally will see competitors travelling towards Jaisalmer covering a total distance of around 500km with challenging terrain towards the finish line.
