Jeep Compass To Be Launched In India In June 2017
According to reports, Jeep India is all set to launch its small and affordable SUV in the country by June 2017.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India has already confirmed the India launch of its affordable and small Jeep SUV, the Compass.
According to emerging reports, the Jeep Compass will be launched in the Indian market in June and it will be manufactured in FCA's Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra.
As per the sources inside FCA, CarDekho reports that Jeep Compass will hit the Indian roads in June. Recently a test mule was spotted on the roads of Bengaluru which indicate the launch is near.
The new Jeep SUV from Jeep will take on the Hyundai Tucson in the Indian market and is expected to be launched with a price tag of around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
The India-spec Jeep Compass is expected to be powered by a 2-litre Multijet II diesel engine producing 170bhp. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The Jeep Compass will be offered in both four-wheel-drive and two-wheel-drive configurations. Apart from that, the new SUV will also get Select-Terrain which allows selecting driving modes depending on the terrain.
Jeep India might also offer the Compass powered by a 1.4-litre Multiair petrol engine. The SUV will be available in three trim levels - Sport, Longitude and Limited. And at a later stage the off-road variant Trailhawk will enter the Indian market.
