2017 Detroit Motor Show: Audi Showcases S5 Cabriolet
Audi showcases its drop-top version of the S5 at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. The 2017 S5 Cabriolet is now equipped with an updated TFSI V6 engine.
The all-new Audi S5 Cabriolet was unveiled at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show yesterday. The drop-top is now powered by a re-engineered TFSI V6 motor.
When it comes to performance, the 2018 S5 Cabriolet is capable of doing 0 - 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, thanks to the above-mentioned engine. The 3.0-litre TFSI V6 now produces 354bhp of power and 500Nm of peak torque.
The power output from the oil burner is sent via Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system through an 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox. The all-wheel-drive system serves 46 percent power to the front and 60 percent to the rear.
The customers can also get an optional dynamic steering system with a speed-dependent variable ratio. The equipment that Audi S5 Cabriolet misses is a dual-clutch transmission (which is faster than Tiptronic).
The drop-top S5 is slower than the hardtop S5, which can hit 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds (0.5 seconds faster). But the customers who are planning to buy the S5 Cabriolet can enjoy some fresh air while taking it out to the countryside.
Inside, the showcased model features light beige seats and door panels, rich leather upholstery and lower dashboard. The current model which is in sales comes with $61,100 (Rs 41.64 lakh) price tag. So, the new model will be a bit more expensive because of the new features and the re-engineered engine.
