Volvo XC90 Hybrid Could Benefit From FAME Scheme In India
Volvo Auto recently launched its all-new XC90 plug-in hybrid model in the Indian market. Currently, the XC90 T8 Excellence model is imported to Indian shores via CBU route. So far, no Government discounts or benefits are offered on the plug-in hybrid model.
In due course of time, Volvo Auto is expected to approach Indian Government. The XC90 plug-in hybrid model can avail the FAME Scheme offered in India. Various concessions and benefits will be offered to Volvo, which is likely to be passed on to the customers.
As of now, Volvo has priced its XC90 T8 hybrid at Rs. 1.25 crore ex-showroom (Delhi). With the benefits of FAME Scheme, Volvo would be able to price its plug-in hybrid model more attractively. It will be interesting to see how much of the benefit is passed onto customers.
Powering the Volvo XC90 plug-in hybrid is a 2.0-litre petrol engine, which is assisted by an electric motor. in total, the petrol and electric motor deliver 401bhp and 640Nm of torque output. Three driving modes are offered by Volvo Auto, they are - Pure, Hybrid, and Power.
FAME Scheme by the Indian Government wants faster adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles. Emissions from vehicles is a growing concern around the world and alternate forms of mobility are need of the hour. Several subsidies and concessions are provided to electric and hybrid vehicles through the FAME Scheme.
